Dr. Chanel Wong
Chanel is an educator with over 14 years experience in the DOE, Charter Schools, and ʻĀina Educational Based Nonprofits. She believes that education can be utilized as a tool for social justice, sustainability, and the health and wellbeing of the people of Hawaiʻi. Her foundation as a kumu and as a kanaka rests in her aloha for ʻāina.
Her research focuses on the intersectionality of wāhine concepts of leadership in ʻāina educational based nonprofits and their effects on teaching and learning in their spaces.
Born and raised on the island of Oʻahu between Kapolei and Wahiawā, she now resides in Moloaʻa and enjoys being a mom to her two sons, Kōlea and Kūhina. Chanel is also an administrative assistant for the nonprofit Nā Maka Onaona and paddles for the canoe club, Hui o Mana ka Puʻuwai.
