Malia Manuel

Malia Manuel is a Kauaʻi-born and raised professional surfer, entrepreneur, and community advocate. She comes from a multi-generational Hawaiian family, with deep roots in Hanalei and a lifelong connection to Kaua’i’s ocean, culture, and community. She began surfing at a young age and went on to build an internationally recognized career, becoming the youngest surfer to win the U.S. Open of Surfing at age 14 and later competing on the World Surf League Championship Tour, where she earned Rookie of the Year honors and a No. 5 world ranking.

Throughout her career, Malia has embraced the opportunity to represent Hawaiʻi and serve as a role model for young people both in and out of the water. Her experience traveling and competing around the world has given her a broad perspective while strengthening her appreciation for the community and place that shaped her. She has also pursued education in holistic nutrition and completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training.

Malia is deeply committed to Kauaʻi and to creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation. As a member of the Namahana Education Foundation Board, she brings a unique combination of local perspective, leadership, communication, and a deep belief in the importance of education, community, and connection to place. Especially now as a mother, she is passionate about helping build a strong educational foundation for the keiki and families of the North Shore and contributing to the long-term vision and legacy of Namahana School.
