Eric Huttger Namahana School Special Education Teacher

Eric did his undergraduate work at U.C.L.A. and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He completed a Master’s Degree at Chaminade in special education with a thesis focused on Multiple Intelligences. Through the Hawaii Department of Education RISE Program, Eric is certified to teach special education and middle school math, language arts, social studies and science.

At Kapaa Middle School, Eric’s been privileged to teach diverse learners for 25 years. His position involved family and service provider collaboration, IEP development, and meeting facilitation. He provided instruction in inclusion, pull-out and FSC settings. Eric values a safe and comfortable environment where students can take chances and experiment with their learning.

Eric, his wife Jeanette and three children, Jessica, Jackie and Joshua moved to Kauai 35 years ago in search of a simpler, intentional lifestyle. All three children attended Kapaa Middle and High School, succeeded at the university level and blossomed in their careers. His family cares very much for Kauai’s small community and the ʻāina-based focus. Outside of school, you can find Eric working on fruit trees, practicing yoga, and studying nutrition and WFPB lifestyle. He cherishes his wife, three children and six grandchildren.
