Sarah Mirembe Namahana School Educational Assistant

Originally from Uganda, East Africa, Sarah Mirembe brings to Namahana School a rich and varied background that reflects a lifelong commitment to service, learning, and community engagement. Her path has not been linear, but it has always centered on one guiding question: How do we help students grow into who they are meant to be? This question has shaped her journey through policy research with the Parliament of Uganda, mediation work in California courtrooms, outdoor education in the Midwest, and classroom teaching in diverse urban learning environments. At every stop, she’s seen the same truth: when students feel seen, heard, and believed in, they are capacitated to do better.

As woman of faith with a heart to serve, she views education as a calling that extends beyond the classroom. She has worked extensively in roles that support both academic and personal development, including her time as a Teaching Assistant at Pepperdine University, an Assistant Teacher at Agape House and School in Wisconsin, as well as a fourth-grade enrichment teacher at Youth at Heart in Tulsa.

Before joining Namahana, she served at Hawaii Technology Academy, providing individualized academic support in literacy, history, and math for middle and high school students, collaborating closely with lead instructors to foster student success. Her mediation work with the Center for Conflict Resolution in California courts further honed her skills in communication, empathy, and problem-solving, skills she brings to the classroom to build healthier relationships and supportive learning environments.

Her commitment to community and leadership is also reflected in earlier roles such as Councilor Aide Intern with the City of Tulsa, where she researched public concerns and provided recommendations that addressed community needs. She has a long history of engagement and leadership, honored with awards such as the ORU Outstanding Student in International Relations, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and graduating summa cum laude.

As an author of seven books, she understands the importance of nurturing creativity and encourages students to explore and develop their unique talents.

Her approach to education is rooted in humility, curiosity, and connection. Influenced by her husband’s hands-on work in carpentry, farming, and music, she values practical skills and experiential learning that help students connect what they learn to life beyond the classroom.

Joining Namahana School is a continuation of her calling to serve, inspire, and empower students, helping them grow with confidence, curiosity, and purpose into the individuals they are meant or envision themselves to be.
