Derek Leonard Leyendeckers

Derek is the Branch Manager for the Kilauea Gather Federal Credit Union, where he leads branch operations and staff development. Since joining Gather, he has focused on expanding the credit union’s presence on the North Shore, including the successful opening of the Kilauea branch.

A graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, Derek brings a diverse professional background spanning finance, operations, and customer experience. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to serving his community. He is an active member of the Namahana School Governing Board and serves on its Finance Committee, utilizing his experience to support the school’s long-term fiscal health and campus development.

Outside of work, you can see Derek training for marathons and values spending quality time with his family. He is deeply invested in strengthening the North Shore community and supporting opportunities for local families. He lives in Kapaa with his wife, Nicole, and their two children.
